Introducing Advanced Supply Chain

Advanced Supply Chain is a leading provider of supply chain services and a logistics partner for many well-known retail brands. They have been using Asset Go since May 2019. The system has helped them, through the digitisation of inspections and defect reporting, to significantly improve efficiencies and reduce costs.

Advanced Supply
Chain’s challenge

Advanced Supply Chain approached AssetGo, with concerns relating to the processes and tools they had in place to help manage their transport operation. They were using defect books to report defects and Excel spreadsheets to monitor rectifications, plan vehicle services, MOTs, tacho recalibrations, and report on costs.

Advanced Supply Chain also used a paper-based ‘at scene’ report forms to record accidents. They found that drivers would often forget to complete them or miss important evidence or information required for investigations, opening the business up to potential liabilities, unnecessary admin and associated costs.

Tracey Walker, Transport Support Manager, Advanced Supply Chain explained: “Our methods were open to human error and on occasions Period Maintenance Inspections could be missed or be a week late, exposing our business to risk and liability.”

In summary, Advanced Supply Chain had experienced the following challenges:

  • Methods were open to human error increasing financial risk
  • Vital accident report information could be missed, leaving them open to liability
  • Information was not centrally held, making it difficult to access
  • Reliant on insecure documentation that could be corrupted

Paper-based reporting meant:

  • Defects not being reported in sequence, due to pages being missed in defect books
  • Duplicate defects being reported
  • Misreporting of issues due to admin errors
  • The possibility of lost or spoiled records

Why Advanced Supply
Chain chose AssetGo

Following an initial demo of AssetGo, Advanced Supply Chain quickly realised that this secure cloud-based system could help their business to effectively manage its transport operation.

The functionality of AssetGo meant that they were able to automate and optimise their processes, considerably reduce human errors, and ensure their business remained safe and fully compliant – reducing risk, liability and cost.

Tracey Walker commented: “We use AssetGo for managing defects, scheduling services and reporting on costs. There is less duplication of work, once a defect is on the system it can be monitored from start to finish. Drivers are now carrying out meaningful daily checks, which helps us to monitor defects and with the reporting of new damage.”

Tracey continued: “We use their Monitoring capability to prevent duplicate defects being reported and the systems automated email notifications to inform us when vehicles are due for a service or PMI, which means we don’t miss a schedule.”

Tracey concluded: “We are ER recognised and use AssetGo to report directly to the DVSA on servicing and MOTs. There is less paperwork, reducing the time to file. We are also able to run our reports faster with AssetGo and easily create new dynamic reports, which is something that wasn’t possible before.”
