Introducing Cargo Express

Cargo Express are one of the UK’s leading logistical transport companies. They operate a sizeable fleet of vehicles and assets. Cargo Express use AssetGo to perform their daily checks and inspections, for defect reporting and workshop and maintenance scheduling and the management of their fleet budget.

Cargo Express’
challenge

Cargo Express’ fleet is made up of a range of vehicles and assets including arctics, 7.5 and 12.5 tonne curtainsiders, trailers, vans and forklift trucks. They had been using a digital inspection system to carry out vehicle checks, which had limited functionality, along with other systems and manual processes to manage their fleet compliance. Cargo Express were concerned about how their systems would cope with the changes to the transport operator regulations brought on by Brexit and believed it would put them at risk. They were also frustrated with the limitations of their systems, particularly concerning vehicle checks and managing vehicle maintenance plans.

Cargo Express took the decision to look for a single robust, comprehensive and future-proofed fleet management solution, that they could use to carry out defect checks and inspections and help manage their scheduling, maintenance planning and costs. They wanted a system that would give them complete visibility of the checks being made, track their assets and improve working efficiency.

In summary, Cargo Express had experienced the following challenges:

  • Used multiple systems to manage fleet compliance – inefficient and open to error
  • Systems that could not be adapted to manage changes in transport regulation
  • Needed customisable checklists that could be adapted to fit their fleet
  • Limited visibility of the checks being made and compliance of their fleet
  • Manual working methods were creating inefficiencies
  • Needed to consolidate and streamline their daily check process
  • Wanted a single system to manage their scheduling, maintenance planning and costs

Why Cargo Express
chose AssetGo

Cargo Express evaluated the market and found that AssetGo’s secure cloud-based fleet and asset management system met all their requirements.

They could use the system for vehicle and asset checks, defect reporting and for the scheduling of maintenance and management of the fleet budget. It also gave them full visibility of their fleet’s compliance.

Cargo Express’ varied fleet of vehicles meant they needed an easily customisable and adaptable system and this was another reason why they chose AssetGo. They liked the systems easy to use drag and drop checklist building, which meant they could easily create checklists to match their exact requirements.

AssetGo has enabled Cargo Express to consolidate their systems and gain the functionality they required to properly manage the maintenance and compliance of their fleet. They have been able to automate and optimise their processes, reduce human error, and ensure their business remains safe and fully compliant – reducing risk, liability and cost.

Neil Buckley, Compliance Manager at Cargo Express said: “Using AssetGo has made our driver daily checks process much more efficient and comprehensive. It’s enabled us to streamline and consolidate our internal systems, with vehicle checks, defects and maintenance scheduling now all done on one platform. We now have greater transparency on fleet costs and can see exactly where fleet budget is being spent.”

Neil added: “Being able to customise the vehicle checklists has significantly reduced the amount of time we spent in reading driver reports and allows us to quickly and efficiently deal with the most serious and urgent defects.” Neil continues: “Being able to combine our vehicle defect system with our vehicle maintenance plan has cut the workload and joined together these two key parts of our operation.”
